Doctoral degree in 1974. Thesis: “Studies in Galápagos Plants IV-XIV”. Thesis comprised taxonomic studies on vascular plants in the Galápagos Islands, mainly species of the Amaranthaceae and the endemic genus Scalesia (Asteraceae). Numerous publications on the Galápagos flora. Research related to Island biogeography in Galápagos, Hawaii, Jamaica and Cuba. Research Associate in botany at the Bishop Museum, Honolulu, since 1996. Currently involved in the Hawaiian Biological Survey Project as expert on Myxomycetes. Involved in the Swedish National Initiative project as responsible for the forthcoming volume on Myxomycetes. Teaching experience from the Göteborg university, University of Hawaii at Manoa, University of the West Indies, Kingston.
